Case Study: International Trade and the Firm

This case study was done for an International Business class during my semester abroad in Rome. This project did a deep dive into the CETA Trade agreement that was finalized in 2016. It compared tariff rates before and after CETA and examples of how this effected business around the world. The goal was to effectively asses and compare the effects of CETA before and after it was passed. We were given 3 weeks to chose a topic and create a presentation to give during class time. The outcome was to determine if globally trade was better before or after CETA. My partner and I, Alissa Friel thought trade would be an appropriate topic because we had recently experienced taxes you have to pay when you travel between countries. We were trying to discover how much tariffs cost businesses when they are importing or exporting their goods. We did a deep dive of research and found specific examples such as the Grafeo Cravatte brand, to help demonstrate our findings. We combined our research and examples to determine that overall CETA helped dramatically to reduce tariffs. This was reflect in the Power Point created and attached.
